RJB Personal Librarian
Version 1.01
by
Robert J Bower
82 Betzstone Drive
Mansfield, OH. 44907
WHO SHOULD USE THIS PROGRAM
RJB Personal Librarian was designed primarily for people who take pride
in their personal library resources. By classifying your library, you can
indentify strengths and weaknesses, find books with the touch of a button,
print catalogue cards, and identify potentially valuable volumes.
GETTING READY TO RUN THE PROGRAM
Copy all files that came with your copy of the software to a directory
of your choosing. You should have:
PLIB1.EXE - the main program
REGISTER.DOC - information about product registration
UPDATE.DOC - information about available enhancements
MANUAL.DOC - this document
The necessary data files will be created automatically the first time
you run the software.
Before running the software, you should make sure that the "FILES"
statement in your CONFIG.SYS file is set to a minimum of 20. See your DOS
manual for information on the CONFIG.SYS file.
To run the software, make sure you are in the directory to which you
copied the files, type "PLIB1", and press ENTER.
HARDWARE
RJB Personal Librarian can run on any IBM - AT computer or true compa-
tible computer. It was designed for use with a color monitor, but color is not
required. Reports are sent to LPT1: (parallel port 1). No other hardware is
required.
NETWORK USERS
This version of RJB Personal Librarian is designed to run in a single
user MS-DOS environment. Unpredictable results will result if you attempt to
run the software in a network environment. A network version is available.
Contact the author for details.
INITIAL SETUP
Before entering expense transactions, you must create three types of
records. This is done from the "File Maintenance Menu".
Dewey Decimal: These records are the subject classifications for your
books. Although it is intended that this file be used for the standard Dewey
Decimal System, you could use any subject classification that works for you. A
data file containing the standard Dewey Decimal System is available when you
register your copy of the software. See REGISTER.DOC or registration informa-
tion within the software for details.
Locations: These are the various physical locations in which your books
are shelved. They may represent rooms in your house, bookcases in those rooms
or specific shelves in your bookcases.
Publishers: Create codes for the various publishing houses represented
in your library.

Once the above records have been created, you are ready to enter the
books in your library. To do this, select ENTER BOOKS from the main menu. A
